How to Clean Wood Floors in Your House
- 1). Remove objects from the floor and place them in another room. Place furniture gliders under furniture and move the items to another room if possible.
- 2). Remove the dust and debris from the wood floor with a dust mop or a broom. You can also vacuum the wood floors with a vacuum cleaner with a hard wood setting. If you do not have a hard wood setting, then turn the brushes off on the vacuum so that they do not scratch the floor.
- 3). Combine 1 cup of white vinegar with 1 gallon of lukewarm water in a 1-gallon bucket. Soak a mop in the vinegar solution.
- 4). Wring out as much of the water as possible from the mop. The mop only needs to remain damp because the excess water may seep into the seams of the wood floor.
- 5). Clean the wood floor in small sections. Dry the floor with a dry mop or a dry washcloth.
