Top Christian Songs For the Week Ending June 3, 2012

106 40
Even after 18 weeks, I'm still as in love with the #1 song by Building 429 as I was when it hit the charts. Newcomer Andy Cherry joins the popular band with new music this week, as does Gungor, with a little something different for your listening pleasure.

The official Top Christian Hits Chart is compiled by checking and averaging Christian charts and top play lists from all over the U.S. such as Billboard, Cashbox and Air 1 to find the most popular songs.

1. "Where I Belong" - Building 429

In week #18, "Where I Belong" is still a favorite with fans and radio. The second single off of Listen to the Sound strikes hard with lyrics that reach out and grab you around the throat.
"All i know is I'm not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong."

3. "When The Stars Burn Down" - Phillips, Craig & Dean

Moving up one spot in week #9, "When The Stars Burn Down" comes from March's Breathe In, Phillips, Craig & Dean's 12th studio album. Majestic is a great word to describe this song, but whatever you decide to call it, you'll probably fall in love once you hear it.

4. "God's Not Dead (Like A Lion)" - Newsboys

This week, "God's Not Dead (Like A Lion)" moves up from #7. Featuring guest vocals from Kevin Max, the title track from Newsboys November release hits all of the right notes. Strong music, strong lyrics and an overall feel that will have you on your feet, this song is a winner!

5. "On My Own" - Ashes Remain

In week #8 and moving up three spots, "On My Own," comes from What I've Become. This is one of those songs that gets better each time I hear it. Imagine Skillet with strings (not hard to do since they use them frequently) telling a story about how alone and without God you are when you are on your own.

6. "Ships In The Night" - Mat Kearney

In week #14, "Ships In The Night" is the second radio single from last year's Young Love. Reminding us that arguments can make us feel like random ships that pass in the night, it also shares how we can overcome those moments of heated words with love.

7. "Overcome" - Jeremy Camp

In week #15 and dropping from #3, the acoustic treatment that Jeremy, a beautiful choir and guest vocalist, wife Adie, give the Desperation Band's song is spectacular. Clocking in at 8:03, you have plenty of time to worship along with them.

10. "You Are The Beauty" - Gungor

Our last song in the chart this week is another new tune. Gungor's "You Are The Beauty" comes from 2011's Ghosts Upon The Earth. The song, which is chock-full of banjos and fiddles, shows fans that Gungor can deliver bluegrass as well as they do pop/folk.
