How to Adjust the Rear Brakes of a 1996 Chrysler Cirrus
- 1). Decide which rear brake assembly you will start at and locate that brake drum for that side.
- 2). Locate the rubber stopper located on the back of the brake drum at the top. Use the flat tip screw driver to remove the rubber stopper. The rubber stopper protects the brake assembly from water and road debris.
- 3). Engage the adjustment wheel with the brake spoon.
- 4). Rotate the adjustment wheel clockwise to move the brake shoes closer to the drum. Stop adjustment when the brake shoes just contact the drum. Do not over adjust.
- 5). Replace the rubber stopper by hand. This will protect the brake assembly from road debris and water damage.
- 6). Adjust the opposite brake drum using the same procedure making sure not to over adjust the shoe to drum clearance.
