How to Flush a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer Radiator
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Park the Trailblazer in a level area. Let the engine cool completely.
2
Place a large drain pan beneath the lower radiator hose on the passenger side of the radiator. Open the hood of the truck, and remove the radiator cap.
3
Remove the clamp from the lower radiator hose with pliers or a small screwdriver, depending on the type of clamp. Move the hose aside so the coolant can drain. Replace the lower radiator hose, and secure the hose clamp.
4
Fill the radiator with distilled water. Loosen the clamp, and remove the lower radiator hose. Let the water drain to flush out any contaminants or debris. Replace the lower radiator hose, and tighten the clamp.
5
Fill the radiator with a 50-50 mixture of DEX-Cool antifreeze and distilled water. Start the truck's engine, and let it idle until it warms up. Continue adding the coolant and water mixture as needed as the level drops in the radiator.
6
Turn on the truck's heater system, and let it run for two minutes. Turn it off, and turn off the ignition. Let the engine cool. Add enough of the coolant and water blend to fill the radiator if the level has dropped.
7
Check the coolant level at the next two to three fuel stops. Add coolant if necessary.
