    The Laundry Room Plan

    • 1). Measure the length, width and height of the cabinetry areas in your laundry room.

    • 2). Determine how many upper and lower cabinets you need to install in the laundry room.

    • 3). Measure the length and width of the counter space you need in the laundry room. If you plan to install floor cabinets around the perimeter of the room, this will give your laundry room a lot of counter work space.

    Assemble the Cabinets

    • 1). Select and order the cabinetry from a supplier. As a do-it-yourself project, you can save on the costs if you assemble the cabinets yourself.

    • 2). Match up the coordinating pieces according to the assembly instructions.

    • 3). Reinforce the seams with wood glue, and connect the pieces together with the provided hardware.

    • 4). Install the laundry cabinet doors and drawers. Assemble them, and connect them to the cabinetry.

    Install the Laundry Room Cabinets

    • 1). Locate the wall studs around the room, and mark their locations below the level of the upper cabinets and above the floor cabinet heights.

    • 2). Measure the clearance space needed above the washer and dryer to mark the bottom of the wall cabinets on the wall.

    • 3). Align the wall cabinets to the wall with the help of two people. Level the unit, and then screw it into the wall studs from inside of the cabinet. Conceal the screws by screwing them through the top and bottom edges of the cabinet back wall.

    • 4). Align the floor cabinets to the walls next to the washer and dryer and around the laundry room. Level the units to the walls and to the other units to make an even surface for the countertops. Use shims to lift the cabinetry from the floor if it is uneven at any point.

    • 5). Screw the floor cabinetry into the marked wall studs, through the top of the cabinets and near the bottom of the cabinets' back walls.

    • 6). Seal the lines around the cabinetry with silicone caulking for kitchen and bathrooms. This will prevent moisture from seeping between the cabinets and the walls.

    • 7). Install the laundry room countertops. Select the countertop material you want for your laundry room, and have the countertop space measured for the new countertops. You can install them yourself or have them professionally installed, especially if the material is a heavy stone.
