How to Change the Air Filter in a Ford Focus
- 1). Raise the hood of your Ford Focus. Locate the air filter housing on the driver's side. It's a big box with what looks like a thick air duct leading out toward the engine.
- 2). Use your thumbs to remove the clamps on the air filter housing cover. On older Ford Focus models, instead of these clamps you'll find four screws; remove them with a flat-head screwdriver.
- 3). Lift the cover off the air filter housing. Use care so you don't allow any debris to fall from the filter into the housing.
- 4). Remove the air filter element by hand and discard.
- 5). Place the new air filter element into the housing.
- 6). Set the cover back on top of the housing, making sure not to pinch the sides of the air filter element.
- 7). Refasten the clamps (or retighten the four screws) to secure the cover.
