    Old Wooden Chest

    • 1). Remove any chipped or cracked paint using a paint stripper. If there are any rough or sharp edges, sand the chest down prior to use.

    • 2). Brush over the chest with a high-quality primer and allow it to set. Finish off with two fresh coats of paint in her favorite color.

    • 3). Purchase two pillowcases or one large body pillow. Choose colors that either compliment or contrast the color of the chest. If you're using pillowcases, stuff them with cotton stuffing and sew the open end of the pillowcase shut.

    • 4). Place the pillows on top of the chest to act as seating. The inside of the chest may be used as storage for books, shoes or even laundry.

    Non-Working CDs

    • 1). Create a clock out of old CDs by placing a single CD on patterned or colored cardstock. Trace the CD and cut out the circular shape, including the hole in the center.

    • 2). Brush decoupage glue onto the blank side of the cardstock and stick it to the CD. Smooth the edges so that there are no lumps under the paper.

    • 3). Draw numbers on the patterned side of the cardstock with with white glue and sprinkle glitter over the glue. Shake off the excess and allow to dry.

    • 4). Brush decoupage glue over the entire cover of the clock for a glossy look.

    • 5). Add your clock mechanism per the instructions in the package. Hang the clock in the bedroom using ribbon and a wall hook.

    Old Dinnerware

    • 1). Spray paint old plates in colors that coordinate with the rest of her room decor.

    • 2). Secure the plates to the wall using a strong double-sided adhesive sticker. Remove the backing off one side of the sticker and press the sticky side to the back of the plate. Peel off the paper on the opposite end and gently press the plate against the wall.

    • 3). Embellish the plates with decorative items such as glitter, rhinestones, photographs or word decals.

    • 4). Spray paint cups. After drying, use them to store costume jewelry. You could even use the cups as vases to hold flowers.

    Glass Bottles

    • 1). Fill glass bottles with colorful beads and secure the bottle with a cork.

    • 2). Place bottles on shelves or desks for fun, funky decor pieces.

    • 3). Embellish the outside of the bottle with handmade labels, plastic jewels or ribbon.

    • 4). Place hair ties, necklaces and bracelets around the neck of the bottle to avoid losing them.
