    Giant Spider

    • Transform your pumpkin into a giant spider. Use the pumpkin as the head of the spider, and trace eyes from a pumpkin carving kit onto the pumpkin. You can even add a mouth if you want. Then, use craft foam or pipe cleaners to make legs for your pumpkin. Tape the legs to the underside of your pumpkin. Add fangs to your spider using costume fangs. If you didn't carve a mouth into your pumpkin, you can paint fangs on your pumpkin using acrylic paint.

    Glowing Spiders

    • You do not have to carve a pumpkin to bring the spider theme alive. Instead, paint the entire pumpkin black. When it is dry, paint a clear sealer over the paint to help the paint last. Use a glow-in-the-dark paint pen to draw a web. Draw the web freehand or check your local craft store for a stencil. Save room for the spider to sit in its web. You can draw the spider with the glow-in-the-dark pen or you can purchase a fake spider to place in the web. Use straight pins to hold the fake spider in place.

    Infested

    • Turn tiny pumpkins into an army of spiders. Paint the pumpkins a solid color such as black. Let the paint dry before painting on eyes and a mouth. Do not forget to add a clear coat of sealer to keep the paint from chipping. For legs, bend and shape matching pipe cleaners. Use craft glue to attach them to the sides of the pumpkins. You can scatter the spiders around your yard and porch to scare trick-or-treaters or as decorations for your Halloween party.

    Creepy Crawly Spiders

    • For a simpler spider pumpkin without any of the painting or accessories, consider carving a spider on top of your pumpkin. It will be a new twist on the classic Halloween decoration. Turn your pumpkin upside down and cut a hole in the bottom. Remove the seeds and pulp of the pumpkin. Then, flip the pumpkin over. Remove the stem from the top of the pumpkin. Trace a spider design on top of your pumpkin using a stencil or freehand. Carve the spider image. Light a tea light candle and place it where you want the pumpkin to sit. Place the pumpkin over the tea light using the hole you cut in the beginning. You can make the entire top of the pumpkin the spider or place the spider in its web.
