How to Hook Up an Amplifier and a Sub in a Car
- 1). Connect a piece of 8 gauge wire to the ground connection on the side of the amplifier, and lead that wire to the metal frame of the car. Mount the wire on the metal frame using a metal screw to secure the wire. Use a screwdriver to tighten all of the connections and the screw.
- 2). Connect two wires to the sub-woofer: one in the positive output and one in the negative output. Lead these two wire to the inputs on the side of the amplifier. Connect the wires to their corresponding connections on the amplifier. Use the screwdriver to tighten the connections on the amplifier.
- 3). Plug the RCA cables into their corresponding holes on the amplifier. Connect a piece of 8 gauge wire to the connection marked "POWER" on the amplifier. Lead the power wire and the RCA cables up to the front of the car.
- 4). Connect the RCA cables to the rear of the stereo in their corresponding connections. Lead the power wire through the fire wall into the engine compartment and up to the battery. Connect the power wire to the battery.
