How to Create a Bootable Disk for an NTFS or Fat Partition
- 1). Insert a blank floppy disk in the floppy drive of your computer.
- 2). Insert the Windows XP setup CD in the CD drive of your computer.
- 3). Click “Start,” then click “My Computer.”
- 4). Double-click the CD drive icon containing the Windows XP setup CD in the "My Computer" window that opens.
- 5). Double-click the “I386” folder to open it.
- 6). Right-click the “Ntldr” file in the I386 folder and then click “Copy.”
- 7). Click “Start” and then click “My Computer.”
- 8). Double-click the floppy disk icon to open it.
- 9). Right-click in the floppy disk window that opens and then click “Paste.”

Click on the I386 folder icon on your taskbar to bring it in view. - 11
Right-click the “Ntdetect.com” file in the I386 folder and then click “Copy.” - 12
Click on the floppy disk folder icon on your taskbar to bring it in view. - 13
Right-click in the floppy disk window that opens and then click “Paste.” - 14
Click “Start” and then click “Run.” - 15
Type “sysdm.cpl” in the Run dialog box that opens and then click “OK.” - 16
Click “Advanced” tab on the System Properties dialog box that opens. - 17
Click “Settings” button under Startup and Recovery. - 18
Click “Edit” button on the Startup and Recovery dialog box that opens. - 19
Click “File” menu on the boot notepad window that opens, then click “Save As.” - 20
Navigate to the floppy disk folder in the "Save As" dialog box that opens and then click “Save.”
