How to Download Shows From a Comcast DVR
- 1). Select an external recording device---either a DVD player or a personal computer. If you have a recordable DVD system, you can download your DVR shows to a disc, which makes for easy future viewing on your television. You can also download digital video software that allows you to transfer DVR recordings to your home computer.
- 2). Connect your Comcast DVR to your digital recording device. For older systems, you might have to make the connection with color-coded RCA cables. Plug the yellow ends of the cables into the video "out" and "in" jacks on your devices, and plug the red and white cable ends into the corresponding audio jacks. More modern systems can be connected using USB cables by plugging them into the respective USB jacks on your devices.
- 3). Download or purchase video transfer software if you are transferring programs to a computer. To process the video download, you will need software such as the Pinnacle to convert the digital signal for you.
- 4). Select the program you wish to download. Queue up the program as if you are about to play or watch it, but do not start it yet.
- 5). Begin your transfer. Press "Record" on your digital recording device while simultaneously pressing "Play" on your Comcast DVR.
- 6). Monitor the transfer. Your recording will occur in real time, so make sure the entire recording continues uninterrupted or you will have to start over.
- 7). Verify the quality of your recording. Once your download is complete, check to see that the quality is up to your standards.
