How to Disable a Bad USB Port on a Laptop

    • 1). Click "Start," type "Device Manager" in the search box and press "Enter."

    • 2). Click the "+" sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" to expand the list of USB ports.

    • 3). Locate the USB port with a yellow exclamation point next to it. The yellow exclamation point indicates a problem with the device.

    • 4). Right-click the USB port and click "Disable."

    • 5). Click "Yes" when prompted with "Disabling this device will cause it to stop functioning. Do you really want to disable it?"
